The Lilith Diaries

Are you Lilith?

Does anyone know what's going on with gas? I went with my mom to Charlotte (NC) today to take care of some stuff for my great aunt, and we ran out of gas, and I think we hit eight gas stations before we found one that had any gas at all, and then when we finally found on there was about a 150 car line to get in there. We waited in that line - running on fumes all the while - for more than an hour. And then to add insult to injury the damn line was leaky so I got covered in gas while pumping up my car, but since I'd been in that line for an hour and twenty minutes, freaking out about whether we were going to need to push the car to the pump, I didn't care how much of the stuff got on me, just as long as the tank got full, too. All I heard was that there was some problem with a pipeline, but I just don't see how that can happen if none of the south's refineries sustained enough damage from hurricane Ike to cause shortages. Especially since it's been two weeks since Ike. WTF mate, WTF?

I've been hearing about the South running out of gas on the news this weekend. From what I understand, it began as a rumor (in Nashville) that the stations were running out of gas, and in turn it caused a lot of panic.
Weird....

See , this is why people need to get past the It's Snowing! syndrome. Just because snow is in the forecast does not mean you need to rush out and buy milk and bread. Why the hell is it always milk and bread anyway? Even my mother does that mess, and we don't even eat bread and milk but a few times a year! People hear there might be a shortage of gas, so they rush the hell out and buy up every damn drop, and then there IS a shortage on gas! Duh, people, self-fulfilling prophecy! Oy. Just... oy.

The simple answer from what I have heard is that there was one particular pipeline in Houston that serviced the south western states that was damaged somewhat during the hurricane and hasn't been able to pump out its usual amount, hence, why the prices are higher in that area than in others.

( I believe it is the southwestern states, unless it was the southeastern? I cant recall which one of the two it was but that was the answer that I had heard from one of the Senators from the northern states explain )

Well, I haven't heard crap. Why? Cuz I live on the west Coast, and unless I watch the news, I don't hear crap...and I haven't watched the news....to be honest. I have been stuck on channel 19 everyday (except for yesterday) about the OJ simpson trial here in Nevada. I will keep my opinion to myself about that...since...that isn't what this thread is about. Okay, let the bastard FRY. Ooopsie, did I say that?

So, does anybody have cable? If so, do you get the 'Green' channel? We DO have alternative fuel sources. I say, "SCREW FOSSIL!!!". Can I say that any louder? Yeah..I think I can. "FUCK FOSSIL!!!" How bout THAT? We have had so many alternative fuel sources shoved down our throats since the 70's. It is up to US to wise up and realize we NEED to use an alternative source!

We have it here in Nevada; it is an Ethanol blend....and MUCH cheaper. I am sorry it isn't in YOUR state yet, but it will be soon! Very many gas stations offer this alternative fuel. It will be a matter of time when we are no longer dependent upon fossil fuel. I predict this time coming SOOOOON...within YOUR lifetime. Until now, we pay the price of fossil.
